Avery and the Peas

Avery has been eating a lot of different foods lately.  He pretty much eats whatever we are eating, as long as it doesn't have too many additives and isn't too spicy or salty.  But, when I went to the dietitian last week (my doctor made me go because my blood pressure is high) she suggested strongly that we replace some of the carbohydrates in our diet with vegetables.  She's not wrong  - we really don't eat very many vegetables!  Maybe one serving a day and usually that "one serving" happens to be included in some sort of dish that we are eating, like pizza or Chinese food.  So I would definitely agree that we need to eat more vegetables!  Which means that Avery needs to eat more vegetables too.  So the other day I remembered that we had a bag of frozen peas and decided to give them to Avery.  He's getting really good with his pincer grasp (picking things up between his thumb and finger) but has a bit more trouble releasing whatever he has managed to pick up into his mouth!  He did get some of the peas into his mouth though, but I don't think he liked them.  Too bad!  We will have to keep trying...
(as a side note, notice the "fur" part of our household lurking in the background, just waiting for those peas to be dropped!)

Picking the peas up
Contemplating... "Do I like this round green thing?"
Still not sure...
"Hey Mom!  Do you eat these things?"
"I think I swallowed one!"

"What happens when I tip over like this?"

"I think I'll just stay this way (and let Shelby eat these 'pea' thingies)"
