Like many new dads, Noel isn't entirely confident in his parenting abilities yet. Noel is working and I am home with Avery so I do most of the everyday parenting with Avery. But when Avery does spend time with his Daddy, you can see how much he loves Noel, and how much Noel loves him.
Last night we went out for dinner for my Mom's birthday and Avery was sitting on his Grandpa's lap, just staring at Noel (who he hadn't seen all day). No matter who else was talking to him, Avery only had eyes for Daddy. There have been other really sweet moments as well. I meant to write a blog post about this one earlier:

One day Avery had been really fussy during the day. It was around 4:30 and Noel had just arrived home for the day. I told him how fussy Avery had been and I guess I sounded exhausted because, without another word, Noel picked up Avery and took him outside to the backyard (there's a sliding door leading to outside from Avery's room). Noel walked around with Avery in his arms, showing him the trees. Trees are one of Avery's favourite things.

Then Noel laid down on the ground with Avery and they both lay there, staring up at the trees. I watched as Noel passed a blade of grass to Avery, his big hand waiting patiently for Avery's little hand to grasp the blade of grass. It was so sweet it brought tears to my eyes! I watched quietly from inside Avery's room and took pictures through the glass door so as not to disturb them. Of course poor Shelby was sitting at the door watching, whining to go out to sit on the grass with Daddy too! But I didn't let her out because I didn't want to interrupt the memorable moment between a dad and his son.

Awwww......so sweet!!!! I love the candid shots. Poor Shelby.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear that Noel is doing better with Avery. I always knew he would.
