Traditional Windsor-Thomas the Train Road Trip

As we usually do each summer, we took at trip to ride the life-size Thomas the Train, and to visit Avery's Dad's side of the family.  We headed to Windsor first, and I must say that Avery was better than I could have hoped on the ride there.  He only napped for about half an hour, but he was great.  Only occasionally asking "are we in Windsor yet?".   While in Windsor we stayed with Grandpa Scott and Grandma Lori, and Buster and Ursula (the dogs).

The first day there we went to Colasanti's  with Grandpa Scott and had a good time.  They have animals outside to look at and feed, although many of them were hot and staying in the shade.  We went on the caterpillar ride and Avery enjoyed that a lot.  Then he saw a train "roller coaster" that he wanted to go on but it didn't open until 12, and he didn't want to go on anything else.  So, we killed some time playing those games that they have where you win tickets to trade in for a prize.  Avery had fun playing but soon realized that we would get more tickets if Mom played.  :)  I think he was happy just to have the tickets but we went to see what we could trade it in for and he saw a tiny dinosaur that he wanted to have, so he got that.  Then we had lunch and waited for the train ride to open.  Unfortunately, we watched the ride operator do her safety checks and that was when Avery noticed that the ride was quite loud, and decided that he did not, in fact, want to ride it.  So, home we went.

Loving all those tickets

But happy to trade them in for a little dinosaur he called "Tiny".

Turtles!  One of my favourite parts.

At home Avery made cookies with Grandma Lori.  In the mornings he liked to hang out and watch Dinosaur Train on my Chrombook.

The next day we went to the new trampoline place, with Grandpa Scott, and it was amazing!  Avery and I had a super fun time!  There was lots of space to jump and there was even some trampolines set up with a foam pit that you could do tricks into, although Avery would just run and jump.  As we were leaving, we saw one of the many trains in Windsor, and Avery wanted to watch the whole thing go by, so we did.  Then we had lunch at a great 50's style diner.  After nap, there was a water fight with some awesome water guns, and then Marianne came to visit.  Avery enjoyed showing her his book about dinosaurs.  He also really loves the hot tub!

The last day we had a swim in Lori's friend's pool (it was super hot in Windsor and all the beaches were closed) and then had to head out to St.Thomas/Port Stanley to visit Avery's Dad.

In Port Stanley we went to the beach, where Avery had a great time building structures out of the driftwood that he found on the beach.  He did go in the water to cool off though too. We had dinner at the beachfront restaurant and he really enjoyed the fancy drink I asked them to make for him!

The next day was the big event - Day Out With Thomas!  Avery still really enjoyed the train ride but wasn't as much in to the other activities as he has been, and is less interested in trains in general, so this will probably be the last year that we ride the Thoams Train.  :(

After the train ride we went to visit Grammy and Grampy, Noel's other parents, at their house.  We also got to visit with Aunt Becca and Uncle Matt. Avery enjoyed sitting on the swing with Grammy and playing with the dinosaurs that Grampy found for him.  Uncle Matt hooked up the sprinkler and Avery had a good time playing in that, including with the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Then it was time to head home.  We had a good time and enjoyed seeing everybody but it's good to be home too!
